The seminar aims to study antibiotic resistance, which is the cornerstone in treating different types of infections, as the misuse of antibiotics usually without the need for it or taking it without a prescription, or the personal use of this type of medicine without consulting a specialist eventually led to a serious problem It is very resistant to bacterial antibiotics and the low effectiveness of the newly discovered species after a few years of starting to use them by patients. Fluoroquinolones are one of the most important types of existing antibiotics, but it is highly susceptible to bacterial resistance in various ways, the most important of which are efflux pumps that expel the drug molecule to the outside, so it was important to make changes in their chemical structures to overcome this problem.
The seminar included incorporation of the thiazole ring or one of its derivatives (which has antibacterial activity) to the secondary amine molecule present in the piperazine ring of the nucleus of gatifloxacin or ciprofloxacin, which will enhance the pharmacological activity of the compound.
The conclusion of the seminar is that there should be sufficient awareness of the use of antibiotics by consulting specialists, and the necessity of discovering new types of antibiotics to overcome bacteria.
